The Philosophy of Explanations

25 Apr

God is the steward of the unexplainable. When man comes across natural phenomena that he does not understand and cannot explain, he invariably attributes the phenomena to the will of God.

Often, man uses his reasoning to discover the explanation of a natural phenomenon.  Once man can explain it, God is no longer believed to be the architect of THAT PARTICULAR PHENOMENON.  This does not account for other phenomena, however, for man continues to believe that God makes the unexplainable happen.

Science is the backbone of the philosophy of explanations.  The goal of science is to understand the natural world and be able to explain it to mankind. This is a slow, gradual process. Eventually science may help man to be able to explain everything. It will be in response to that total understanding of the cosmos that man will no longer feel the need to turn to God for explanation.
